Bayanihan: Working Together to Make a Difference Bayanihan refers to the spirit of communal unity, and is derived from a common tradition in Philippine towns where community members assist a family in moving to a new location. The process involves literally carrying the house to its new location. The 16th annual FACES conference Bayanihan: Working Together to Make a Difference captures the bayanihan theme by addressing the challenges/issues we face daily to make a difference in our workplaces and communities. Through the spirit of communal unity we are strengthened and our level of engagement is deepened.

Celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month - MAY 24, 2006

The Celebration is to advocate the Race and Social Justice Initiatives in the City of Seattle, contributing to issues related to the immigrant, refugee and American-born Asian Pacific Associations in healing and building the community.† The theme this year is "Thousands of Journeys: Building Community".

The Celebration will included cultural presentations and a panel of multi-ethnic APA leaders presenting various aspects of healing from within and community building.† Most importantly, FACES is establishing the first "Uncle Bob Santos Community Building Award" with Uncle Bob as our first recipient to continue to inspire community-building efforts.† We will also have a special tribute to our former FACES member, "Marilyn Senour".†
